Meet Ahmed Mohamed Tammam

"I'm passionate about the idea of social responsibility. Each of us can and should do something for the world outside our family sphere."

What inspires you?

Some people think that inspiration only comes from your environment, but I think it is something linked to our souls and to our needs. For me I am inspired by the people who persist and work hard to achieve their goals, people who fought for their rights. I'm also very inspired by natural places, knowledge that makes people come out of their limited self-interest as I believe that everyone has a crystal inside himself/herself and you can't see the brightness of this crystal until you communicate with each other: in short "positivist initiatives" that serve in building bridges between the world's civilizations. I also believe that active participation to tackle all the issues that face our world today such as poverty, AIDS, discrimination, war, gender differences, and many more I am honored to be able to help make the world a better place to live and hope to stamp my prints in history.

Tell us about an issue that matters to you and how you became aware and involved.

I'm passionate about the idea of social responsibility. Each of us can and should do something for the world outside our family sphere. It all started in high school when I became involved in student leadership and found from this start I engaged in youth empowerment and active participation within their societies. I believe that youth are agents of change, and we can't make a change until we involve youth in the whole process. Its easy to let the years of tenacity and invincibility slip through our fingers by days and years. It will be easier to look back and wish we had done things differently. But harder to achieve it again. That is why youth participation is so important to me. Now I believe that we have the power, people and courage to make a positive change in our lives. If you have the same vision let's start together.

Share your perspectives on what makes a good leader.

Young people committed to making a difference in the world need no leader and have no leader. They are on a mission together to make something good happen. The leader is a coordinator of this mission and makes sure that work is being done well and the vision and mission of the team is always in check. A leader is only as strong as his team. A good leader is someone who knows how to listen. He is a person who takes on the views of all those who he or she is leading. Leading is a skill that can be developed by training. “To be a good leader is to have more than one personality without losing yours.” Essentially, a good leader is someone who leads through love, and serves those he or she is leading, while also inspiring those that he/she leads.

Do you think TakingITGlobal can help you achieve some of your goals? Have we already?

Of course, if not I wouldn't be here and TIG wouldn’t achieve this great success. TIG has really given me the opportunity to share my experiences and ideas among the world’s youth and future leaders. You know one of my dreams is to reach and enrich the entire world youth by knowledge, skills and get great interactions together for the best of our world and surely. TiG made that easy for me as it helps me share my thoughts with others, have new, numerous friends, and manage to engage in projects. If you don’t believe it, just try doing online debates with the youth who are registered in TIG, discuss the most popular issues concerning the world, and send recommendations to decision makers and leaders worldwide. Also do action projects with youth to apply it in their country is great work that I hope to deliver to all my friends. Eventually, my inspiration is being fulfilled and satisfied with TiG.
