What inspires you?
I have been facilitating training to the English teachers for five years as a Teacher Trainer from the very beginning of my career in a renowned non-government organization that provides quality training to the teachers working in secondary level. To me, working with the mixed group of English teachers as well as training them to teach English as a foreign language are not only challenging but also rewarding in my career. The profession always reinforces me to learn something new which will ultimately brings a positive change in the practices of teaching and learning English in Bangladeshi classroom. Hence, these two dimensional forms such as learner and teacher are embodied in me. The traditional practices of teaching and learning English in Bangladesh always reinforces me to bring the ultimate change that will follow the basic principles of language learning e.g. through thinking, creating and enjoying.
Tell us about an issue that matters to you and how you became aware and involved.
The practice of teaching English as a foreign language in the secondary schools in Bangladesh is widely observed. In every class, English is considered as a compulsory subject. As a result, the necessity of English has got an important role for passing the examination. But unfortunately, the major parts of our students are failing in academic English subject in the examination. The reason is that they fear English. The conventional teaching and limited practice of English in the classroom cannot ensure them to pass in the Secondary School Certificate (S S C) examination which is considered as the first pillar of higher education. However, the unexpected performance occurs due to some noticeable reasons. Among them the efficiency of the teachers, the traditional system of teaching, lack of proper teacher training and lack of teaching strategy are predominant. Hence, those problems worried me too much and took me to the profession.
Share your perspectives on what makes a good leader.
To be a good leader is not an easy task. For this, we need hard work, patience and love to the profession we do. However, in my area of profession firstly, I took online profession training from the University of Maryland, USA on TESOL. The training helped me immensely to get the expected result. Firstly, I would like to develop some training materials based on my learning from the online course for teacher training sessions and want to include those abreast with the prescribed materials of my institution. Secondly, the organization where I am working arranges meetings, workshops and develops materials for the development of the Primary and Secondary school teachers every month. However, I do follow up my trained teachers and schools and share those experiences to them in the subsequent trainings or meetings. Thus, I am honored and loved by bringing the change the way we want.

Besides, the on-going practices of teaching and learning English in different context will help me to think their positive application in my own context. As part of this process, already I have read some threads from the discussion board of the TIG in Education forum and replied them. I have also started a thread in the Education forum on ‘Teaching and learning style’. Hope the scholars will reply and give various feedbacks on it. Thus, TIG will make a bridge among the world scholars and bring a revolutionary change in education.
