"TIG has broadened my knowledge about the millennium development goals and now I can take my leaders on."
What inspires you?
My inspiration has always been the wonderful young ladies and gentlemen I see on TIG who are making our world a better place. I believe that we can have a better world if this crop of youth activists continue to think about the world the way they are doing now. My wish to see poverty be a thing of the past has gingered me to add my voice, ideas and also strength to the fight. When I turn and look at my life, and I see what I have passed through, I realize I have a part to play in caring for the under privileged and issues that affect the world. In Africa, you continue to see young ones being used as child labourers, sex slaves and many others. I tend to ask myself a question that the only answer is to involve myself in the fight to rid this world of poverty.
Tell us about an issue that matters to you and how you became aware and involved.
When I first visited the Nkawkaw Hospital in the eastern region of Ghana and saw close to about 72 youth living with HIV/AIDS, I made a point to at least create the awareness in my own small way. The youth of this WORLD are dying and if something is not done quickly, developments and many policies being implemented by our Government will be of no use. Young people, I believe are the future of this world and if our governments do not tend attention to them, then what will our world come to.
Share your perspectives on what makes a good leader.
I believe a good leader is someone who combines passion with whatever task s/he is handling. I have always been a lover of the servant leadership approach which allows one to lean while leading. Leaders are not commanders but facilitate, motivate and inspire his or her group in achieving whatever task they have set before them. Leaders like Kofi Annan, President Kufour of Ghana and many others have resorted to the democratic rule of governance and this has helped them maintain peace and stability in all areas of their work.
Do you think TakingITGlobal can help you achieve some of your goals? Have we already?
TIG, is currently my companion in whatever I do. They have given me the tools to succeed in all my endeavors and I believe there are a lot we all can learn from. I have used their tools for my projects on HIV /AIDS and its related diseases and it has work to perfection. I am currently able to meet colleague activists around the world and share ideas about whatever task we are involved in. TIG has broadened my knowledge about the millennium development goals and now I can take my leaders on. I have written letters, articles and many others through the knowledge from TIG.
